FIRE APPARATUS

Fire Suppression
All fire apparatus are equipped to operate independently in the event of multiple incidents. Each engine company carries its on supply and attack hose, electric generator and floodlights, smoke fans and other tools and equipment. All of the vehicles are also equipped with self-contained breathing apparatus. The first out engine in each district carries a thermal imaging camera for locating fire and possible victims in heavy smoke and total darkness conditions.
Each engine company carries gas detectors; foam and absorbent for hazardous materials incidents, as well as a specialized unit devoted to hazardous materials calls.
Equipment:
Squad 1
Rescue engine, 1250 GPM pumper, 600 gallon tank, In-line foam, portable winch, Hydraulic "jaws of life" rescue tools, air bags, gas detectors and radiological monitors. First out on all fires, emergency medical, traffic accidents, and hazardous materials Incidents in district 1 and specialized incidents citywide.
Engine 1
Attack engine, 1,250 GPM pumper, 1,000 gallon tank, and portable hydrant manifold.
Engine 2
Rescue engine, 1,250 GPM pumper, 1,000 gallon tank. In-Line foam, front-mount winch, hydraulic "Jaws of Life" rescue tools. First out on fires, emergency medical, traffic accidents and hazardous materials incidents in district 2.
Ladder 3
55 foot Aerial ladder, 1,250 GPM pumper, 500 gallon tank. Responds to all structure fires citywide. Also responds to specialized rescue situations.
Support 2
Command Post Vehicle/Fire Support Service Company. Carries fire and medical command boards, mass casualty kit, pre-fire plans, extra portable radios, supplies and fire support equipment. Also carries trauma kits, oxygen and extra medical supplies and ISO service company equipment.
Rescue 6
4-wheel drive Jeep Cherokee-light rescue-medical unit. Backup on multiple rescue-medical calls, water rescue calls and inclement weather. Assigned as water rescue unit and supports boat 16 and amphibious rescue 12.
Support 1
Rescue Support /Service Company. Carries additional "Jaws of Life" rescue tools, extra cribbing supplies. Also carries Saws-All, windshield saws, hacksaws, high lift jacks and other rescue tools. Unit also carries rehabilitation supplies for rehab of firefighters and ISO service company equipment.
Rescue 2
4-wheel drive Jeep Cherokee-light rescue-medical unit. Carries medical/trauma equipment, and water rescue equipment. Assigned as back-up emergency medical unit in district 2.
Rescue 12
Specialized amphibious rescue unit. Unit can travel on land, water and rough terrain. Used as specialized rescue unit for flood evacuations, severe storm, ice or snow storm response. This unit is capable of carrying multiple victims either sitting up or on stretchers/backboards.
Boat 16
14 foot Rescue boat. Used for water rescue/flood evacuation.
